Can you do Thabi and Najuma?
Of course!! I love Season 4. I know that's not always the most popular opinion, but the characters are so fun. Naj and Thabi are so sweet! Wish Naj was more present as a bestie if you're not on her route (someone wanna write that?)

Wrong Time Right Person
Fira broke up with the only person she’s ever loved. It was meant to grant her ex freedom.
But in reality it just broke both of their hearts.
But now life, and love, are coming with a second chance.
Najuma x MC
It just wasn’t the right time.
That was the lie Fira had always told herself when she thought about her ex again and again.
It burned too bright, so it fizzled too quick, but she always comforted herself with the lie, it just wasn’t the right time for them.
But in all honesty, Fira didn’t think there was ever a right time to have met the woman that lived life by the seat of her pants and loved so hard it felt like it unearthed the ground under your feet like her demolitions.
Najuma was her first real love, her only ever love, of course it wasn’t meant to last. She needed excitement and thrills and adrenaline, new experiences and new faces and new challenges. It was why Fira had loved her, because she was never afraid.
But Fira wasn’t what Najuma needed, she had realized that in the days before she let her go.
Najuma didn’t break her heart like her mates expected, Fira broke hers.
Because she knew the life she planned to lead wouldn’t give Najuma the rush she wanted, the feeling she often pursued.
Fira was destined to inherit her mum’s book shoppe. She lived through stories, not adventures. Never sure how Najuma had loved her to begin with, Fira had decided for both of them that they weren’t meant to be.
But she had never truly moved on.
The most risky she ever got were flings she’d met at the pub, never investing in feelings to avoid the emptiness she felt when Najuma had cleared herself from her life.
So what was Fira to do when it felt like life was slapping that lost love in her face?
She had just been meeting Thabi for a drink, just to catch up on the week gone by, when she saw the braids, heard the laugh. She felt like her stomach had dropped out of her feet.
Thabi had grabbed her shoulder, confused and concerned when she saw her friend frozen halfway to the bartop, but then the recognition registered on her face and she spun around to see her.
Fira’s gaze was stuck to her like glue, watching as Najuma through her head back and laughed as the man next to her finished his joke. She recognized him as her mate, Bruno.
She knew she had to look away, but she couldn’t- like Najuma was a black hole sucking life and light right to her.
And then their gazes locked.
Fira could see the surprise written on her face, the sparkle in her gaze that Fira had so desperately missed seeing.
But that sparkle wasn’t hers to cherish anymore, it hadn’t been for three years.
Thabi gently squeezed her shoulder, “Do you wanna go? We should go, right? There are other pubs.”
“Your boyfriend works at this one,” Fira sighed, more to herself than at Thabi, finally breaking the eye contact. The girl could be too sweet for her own good, falling easily into the fold of Fira’s life after the couple had joined the book club Fira ran from the shoppe. She couldn’t let her leave when the woman had promised her boyfriend they’d be here. “She probably doesn’t even know it’s me…”
Neither of them believed that, but Thabi let her guide the way to their stools, greeting James quickly. He didn’t pry for affection even though he hadn’t seen Thabi all day, letting Fira confirm the suspicion he had known Najuma was there. She knew that if he had a free minute she would’ve received a heads up text. Clearing her throat, her sweet best mate tried to take her mind off things, “So… what book were you thinking of next for the club?”
Fira gave her a tired smile, chuckling that it was the best she could come up with, but she didn’t have a chance before the voice that haunted her sweetest dreams spoke up, “Have you done Words in Deep Blue yet? It was always her fave.” Fira could feel her presence behind her back, shifting from one foot to the other uncertainly, “I mean… if it still is a fave, I guess.”
Thabi gave a strained smile, unsure how she should react because she knew Fira’s feelings still ran deep, so her best mate took pity on her, “Yeah, Naj… it’s still my fave.”
Thabi’s gaze resembled that of a tennis match spectator, bouncing between them for a moment before she suddenly jumped to her feet, “What was that, James?” Her boyfriend’s head jerked over from the other side of the bar, unsure why he’d heard his name while trying to take a drink order, “You need me to grab a bottle from the back? Right away!”
Fira huffed with a small smile, Najuma’s chuckle drifting in the air around her like it was forming a cocoon of her favorite sound, “She still isn’t subtle.”
“No, she is not.” Fira looked after her, an appreciative look flitting over her face, “But she means well. Do you… do you wanna sit?”
“I wanted to, maybe, catch up?” Najuma perched on Thabi’s vacated stool, hands tucked under her thighs as she jiggled her leg anxiously, “It’s, uh, it’s been a while.”
Fira pursed his lips, nodding in agreement, “It has. Da’ tells me Reid Demolition is thriving.”
Najuma snorted, “Your pops was always too generous talking me up.” They shared a laugh before their eyes met and it faded away, making her ex girlfriend give her a shrug, “I’ve had a handful of clients. Not too big a deal, but enough to keep afloat.”
Fira’s face scrunched up, phrases tossing around in her head before she spoke slowly, “I wanted to say I’m proud of you… just doesn’t feel like my place anymore.”
Najuma’s expression dropped, like that was the saddest thing she’s heard in weeks, “Couldn’t it be though?” Fira blinked, shocked at how softly she spoke. Najuma wasn’t soft and quiet- she was loud and vibrant and present. “I still don’t understand what happened with us, Fierce.”
She felt her heart jump at the old nickname, one she had never dreamed to hear again and tears filled her eyes, “Just wasn’t the right time, ya know? You needed freedom. You needed to live a real life.”
“I could’ve done that with you!” Najuma argued, “Even if living meant staying home because you hate going out. Freedom could’ve been singing to the radio while we did chores together and binge watching the same shows every weekend.”
“Naj-“
“Is it the right time now?”
Fira’s breath lodged in her throat, eyes wide as she stared at the love of her life, “W-What?”
Najuma’s hand flew out, snatching Fira’s off the counter in such a gentle movement for such a rough notion, “If it wasn’t the right time before… could it be the right time now?”
Fira tried to press her tears back, keep them at bay, “Haven’t you moved on? I mean I left you- three years ago!”
Najuma gave her a weak smirk, “That wasn’t a no.”
The first tear slipped down both of their cheeks, “You can’t still want me, Naj.”
“More than I’ve ever wanted anyone…” Najuma whispered, barely audible over the din of the pub, “You were my best mate before you were my girlfriend. I lost both when I lost you. But if you’ve moved on- I get it, I-“
“Never.” Fira squeezed her hand as it started pulling from her grasp, “I’ve never moved on.”
“So, please,” Najuma leaned over to her, pressing a kiss to her cheek because she was always the brave one, “Let this be the time. I’ve had three years of what you call ‘freedom’. Now I just want you.”
How could Fira say no when life was giving her a second chance?

So I just binged the 4th season of Love Island the Game and I'm kinda happy they took out the part where couples had to choose who gets the fifty thousand dollars.
Mainly because this season, Fusebox actively remembered and respected the choices we made (no mc flirting with random peeps they can't stand--). Plus, toward the end there, I really enjoyed this cast. It was genuinely feeling like a group of true friends, less fakeness.
As always, since I'm more or less keeping a rundown on the timeline of these characters, I'm gonna keep it brief. Kamen ended up with Najuma from the start basically and they won first place; it's true love with these two, ya honor.

i just view FB’s surveys as a way to see hints about what they’re including in the next season (like that enemies to lovers question) because hell would freeze over before they’d actually listen to player feedback, but…
they cannot be serious with this question 😭😭😭 (considering the quality of the recent seasons) the bar for a decent female LI route was at the earth’s core & they still couldn’t clear it
being forced to choose between two wlw LIs as soon as they’re both in the villa because FB is too lazy to code is not fulfilling
watching your LI flirt with other islanders while being like “i have my eye on you too, MC 👀” is not fulfilling (nor was kelly/natasha’s obsessions with finn/stefan)
not being able to actually be with your LI until the literal season finale is not fulfilling. wtf are they thinking ?😭
#it’s sad how FB regressed from immediately available girls like AJ & najuma/well written slowburns like angie to…whatever the hell this was#love island the game#litg#litg all stars#litg season 9#litg s9

Here's MY thoughts on the love island the game's seasons, for no reason other than I want to:
Also because the majority of the people following me are here for OM! & I want to drag more people down into the litg hell with me :)
Season 1: why is everyone so bitchy for no reason????? Talia & Jake are okay but other than that it's meh... don't really like the art style either
Season 2: Immaculate. Chef's kiss. They hit a high they never reached again. Somehow managed to balance the drama & the found family aspect and created a dynamic where you can actually believe everyone is friends and having fun even if sometimes they try to kill each other. Characters are flawed but generally decent people who are allowed to grow throughout the season. You get the option to make MC a bi gym-bro who can devour an entire cake in one sitting and bench press her partner. There's a reason this got two sequels.
Season 3: It's fine ig. Short and kind of boring. Nothing much happens. AJ is so cute though she almost makes up for it.
Season 4: Honestly a close 2nd favourite. We get a lot of character backstory and like s2 it touches on some serious issues. The season with some of the funniest moments/lines of dialogue - multiple moments where I just laughed out loud. I'm still only half way through it but the "villain" is just straight up mean for no reason and doesn't get any character development like the characters in S2 but makes up for it by having some of the funniest interactions with other characters and I was so sad to see her go. Also the season where I desperately wish MC was allowed to be in an open relationship till the very end and finish off the season in a polycule with every other islander who was in the love "triangle"s of the the season because this was the hardest season to pick a LI - Najuma is just all around amazing, Bruno is sweet & funny, Tom is so pathetic* MC & Thabi's friendship is also the best thing? It's great seeing a platonic relationship that is as loving (if not more so) than the romantic relationships. It's literally:
Season 5: Psychological horror. The producers said 'hey wouldn't it be funny if we torture this woman on national tv' and then committed to the bit. My memories are hazy because even though I only played it earlier this year it upset me so much I did my best to block most of it out but also I'm 100% sure there was actual galighting happening. Don't know why MC stuck around till the end because all she's gonna be able to use the money for is to pay for her therapy. Anyway I think MC should have been allowed to brutally murder everyone, she deserved it <3
Season 6: I liked the concept but I think they should have utilised it more. I'm still right at the very beginning (around ep 9) and I KNOW the general consensus from everyone who has reached the last eps seems to be that Amelia sucks MAJOR ass. But look, this is the first time a game has given me a MC with a canon family member who is also part of the game so in my opinion Amelia could commit war crimes and she's still be the most precious little uwu ever because I'm activating MC's insanely overprotective oblivious to all faults ""big"" sister mode
Edit:
*I just played more of S4 and holy shit someone needs to get this man away from his parents and also maybe get him some therapy jfc
Edit 2:
** youcef, mc & valentina helping tom figure out he likes flowers and pink and tie-dye clothes and makeup and being complimented and called pretty and getting hugs is getting to me okay his parents better watch the show and see their adult son finally discovering himself and what he likes instead of what they think he should like and finally being able to let loose and have fun without worrying about what others think of him and finally being happy and they better get some sense knocked into them OR he should go to therapy and realise that no matter how much he loves his parents their love and regard being so conditional to the point that he's hidden his entire personality and is now so extremely self-conscious of it whenever it does manage to peak out, that he nearly cries on national tv after a practical stranger compliments those hidden bits is not good. Also the man has some of the most insane repressed queer vibes???? What do you mean he sees a canon nonbinary person wearing a floppy hat and is reminded of the floppy hat he loved as a child that his father threw away and replaced with a baseball cap and then when he "lost" the baseball cap his father bought him the exact same one again
Edit 3:
*** i was 100% sure i was going to get mc to stick with najuma (dorky mischevious goth who is so so bad at flirting hello!!!?) but i got caught by "sad & shy with serious self-worth issues hidden badly behind an overconfident exterior (who blushes & gets flustered easily because he so rarely receives genuine praise/compliments) experiences postive regard for the first time and loses his shit" for the third fucking time
Edit 4:
Okay but why does Dylan get (rightfully) called out by everyone in S4 for all the bullshit he does to MC from blatantly lying to her to not listening when she says "No" But in S5 when Suresh (admittedly, more subtly) pulls off the same shit no one says anything, even MC's "friends" don't believe her.
In S2 when Luke/Henrik gets a little too forceful after MC says no, he gets called out by MC's partner and immediately apologises
In S4 when Dylan does the whole "stop pretending you don't want me" routine after MC rejects him multiple times, the rest of the islanders band together and basically chase him off the island
In S5 when Suresh pulls literally the same thing from the very first episode itself but none of the other islanders believe MC, and Suresh keeps getting to do this until almost the very end while also managing to constantly play hot & cold with MC and chase away all of MCs other romantic interests

LITG Season 9
(Not Soul Sister related, people, just ranting)
After weeks and weeks of not playing I got up to date with season 9 and... Well, actually I didn't finish playing the latest volume. Same disappointments as always. I'm not one to post to complain but I'm kinda frustrated. Ranting got too long, so, under the cut.
First off I understand that male LIs are also infuriating and that wlw players are not this game's target audience (then again, there are few of those) but dude, at this point I'd rather not have any sapphic options. The last route I recall being actually good (by which I mean the female LI not stringing me along à la Marisol until the very end) was Najuma's and Angie's, and that was season 4. Yes, you can only couple up with Angie at the end too, but you get so many info about her, and so many sweet moments and bonding that I didn't even care. And it's more about her being unsure of her feelings than unwilling to be with you. Quite relatable. Peak of this game for me, if I'm being honest. Good friends to lovers, even if they went too far too fast with the sex scene in my opinion. Still, it was very well written!
But every single season after that had the female LI fucking drooling over several men (and sometimes women too) and then adding a half-assed line like, "'oh, but I don't know, I have my eyes on someone else too', she gives you a wink". Like that makes it okay? I think the only truly unapologetically loyal female LIs were Najuma and AJ back in season 3.
They put so little thought into incorporating the wlw routes that to make them progress you have ludicrous paths. Like, in my playthrough Henri won a challenge and as a prize my MC could actually dismiss him and choose to go to the hideaway with Natasha or Kelly instead. Like ??? That's just bad writing.
What's worse, we can't even make friends anymore, it's all about romance, which wipes out most of the appeal this game had for me. Practically every islander, even after you reject them, comes at the MC confessing their undying love like a crazy stalker for no reason, because we know nothing about each other! Besides half of the options you have to get to know more about what's happening around you force you to be an insufferable gossip or a petty child. "Let's listen to a private convo, MC", "Why don't you sneak a kiss with guy 2 to make guy 1 jealous?" And you have to pay an unfair amount of gems to do it, on top of it!
I want to get to know the characters BEFORE I choose who I want to pick. I want to know the characters even if they are not romanceable. It's ridiculous, though, that there are seasons in which you know more about your besties than you do about your LI. That's why Angie, or Seb, or Nicky, or Viv or Thabi, hell, even Hope and Lottie, wth all their flaunted flaws are so appealing. That's why Season 2 is so goddam popular. We had actual interactions back then. Now, whatever interactions there are, you just witness.
This is also why people like games like Too Hot to Handle so much more. I'm not really into guys but I still play their routes because it's good content beyond romance stuff. Hell, Jirayu may be my favourite out of this season's bunch. And they're all different! It's an interactive game, choices should matter.
At this point I'll probably stop playing and limit myself to read other people roasting Fusebox. Honestly, a company that asks for the fans' opinions season after season just to ignore all the feedback doesn't deserve half the players they still have.
There, ranting over XD

Bugger Off
Here’s the thing, Jax would love to be happy for Max. Would love to see Max find the one and live that cliche life. Max was all she had because Jax was between bands after her old drummer dumped their bassist and the whole group broke up, and sometimes she wondered to herself if that’s why she was so skeptical of love. But she also didn’t trust Max’s boyfriend any more than she could throw him.
Or in other words, Jax’s sister’s boyfriend cheats on her, so Jax rallies them together to perform and destroy Dylan’s reputation by showing people who he really is.
Music, romance, sarcasm, and shit talking ensue.

litg characters I'd cast in romcoms
When Harry Met Sally: Seb as Harry!! Then Genevieve as his ex, Tom as MC's (Sally's) ex, Nicky as Seb's best friend, Elladine as MC's best friend
I actually have this all sorted how this would work out but my post got deleted 😭
Notting Hill: Jin as Hugh Grant's character (forgot his name lol) because in my head he's history nerd so like just imagine him in cozy sweaters okay. He's got that wacky roommate whose name I have also forgotten and naturally if we had to pick from S8, Liam, but I also think Jamal would be a fun pick (make the roommate less wacky and more just fun and wild though). The other version of this is Jake as as the main character with his roommate Tim.
Legally Blonde (and I'm going based off the musical): Literally only here because I know I can cast the lawyers, like clearly Suresh as Warner (and oh lean heavily on the implication that he cheated on MC while they were dating) and Blake or Marisol as Vivienne (I like her being cut throat but still looking for love). I'd really like Hari as Emmett because they have a backstory of working hard for their dream and would have a fun banter with the main character without being overly cheery and also is very competitive when needs to be although may be an underdog, but lowkey could also be anyone that has the very grounded boy next door vibe so like Tyler, Rohan, Jake, James, and Lewie are also good picks imo. The other sorority girls needs to include Chelsea, Thabi, basically any of MC's besties (...minus Amelia). It's hard to think of anyone as Paulette because she's an older character and everyone in the game is pretty young but we can further my Angie x Cora agenda and have it be Angie talking about her lost love and then in comes the hot deliverywoman, Cora. She also has like sage advice vibes when she's in the villa sometimes so I think that works.
She's All That: Gary as the main guy. Eddie as his shitty best friend. I don't know why but this came so quickly to me I'm not sure I'd even have to explain but like Gary gives off cool guy / player vibes but I'd also see him absolutely get into or at least support whatever weird artsy stuff his girlfriend is into and have a character arc and all that.
While You Were Sleeping: the OG "I fell in love with your brother while you were away" story, so clearly Ozzy as Peter, Marshall as the brother, Grace as the girl Ozzy's actually dating
How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days: Because I've already said Gary for a different romcom, I'm inclined to have the suave ladies man esque character be Will or Youcef. I also think an evolved Suresh or Finn or Mason or Levi could work. Often I forget about her but I think Lulu would be a fun whatever Kathryn Hahn's character's name is.
A Cinderella Story (the Hilary Duff version): I think the fandom's go to "I don't wanna do what my dad says" character may be Lucas but I want to give Oliver a chance as the sweet lead even though I remember nothing about his backstory in game. MC's best friend can be someone a little dorky and the only person coming to mind right now is Felix.
Ten Things I Hate About You: Again, a reformed Finn could've been so good. Instead, we're going for mysterious and brooding so I think Joyo is a good choice for Patrick. Then to continue the streak of me remembering S7 characters, I think Raf could be a good Cameron because he's got that innocence and silliness that works. Then we need the friend that gives Raf an explanation of how things work and I could see that going to Andy because he's a little silly and dorky but mostly pretty confident (slightly different vibe from the character but that's fine). Other option, Bruno. In the movie, I believe he also ends up with Kat's best friend, who I just remember being very confident and alternative vibes so I think Najuma, Cora, Bella, or Lottie for her. We also need Kat's sister Bianca, and that could be easy and I say it's Amelia, or we could pick a tolerable option like Bea. There's also the guy Bianca initially has a crush on, and dare I say we pick Toby?? Just a character that's full of nothing. Or it could just be someone pretty like Levi or someone rich and an asshole like Miles or Jasper. All I remember about Bianca's bestie is that she backstabs her at the end and since fusebox hates women that could be a number of characters but my pick is Sophie or Erikah.
I could go on forever so I must I choose to stop now before I get carried away 🤣
#no one asked for this its just always on my mind#all i've learned from writing this is that i'm shit at remembering names#litg#love island the game#rambling

LITG S7 Ficlet 1: Stick or Twist? (Alex/MC)
~~~
Author's Note: I had to put my own spin on it because the game ai does not do this premise justice!
~~~
~~~
Jenna was ecstatic to been in the show. She had been watching the show for years and she loved it. She wanted to be an OG but she didn't get through because they thought she looked similar to Willow.
(Jenna was confused since Series 2 had Hope and Rosalia, and Series 4 had Najuma and Thabi all as OGs and those girls were all dark-skinned but okay then.)[1]
But Jenna was ecstatic to be in the Villa and the girls seemed nice enough, even Summer.
At first she had her eyes on Bryson but Alex caught her attention.
She grafted on all the guys, to get a feel for them, if she liked them. And so far, Rafael and Alex stood out to her. Bryson and Joyo were too complicated as they fought over Geri at some point so that was a no. And Rafael was loyal to his missus in the Villa.
So Jenna went for Alex who seemed open to her advances.
Now Jenna wasn't going to go throw Alex's partner Estelle under the bus like Summer was doing. That would come back to bite her in the bum like it did with Blake and Gabi from the previous seasons. Badmouthing the OGs never sat well with the audiences. That would send her home with a quickness like it did Blake.
She would have Alex like her genuinely.
Which was the harder road.
~~~
Summer was annoying.
She was too strong which was fine but she kept getting in Jenna's way.
Alex seemed a little off-put by it luckily.
Jenna grafted on him and Rafael but Rafael wasn't too receptive to her advances so she stopped. Rafael and Daphne were the 'strong' couple in the Villa, if she went after him, it would be more drama.
She continued to have chats with Alex and Bryson, and she liked Alex's simple outlook of being a family man, building a home and that sort of stuff. Alex seemed the more traditional type in her observation.
On the third day of Casa Amor, she managed to get a kiss out of Alex and she enjoyed it. It was a little bland but she could work with that.
Alex's face was red the whole evening and the guys teased him about it. Jenna felt proud. She was making progress.
They shared a bed that evening and Alex made his move on her, touching her intimately. They didn't do big bits but they did reach second base. No home run yet as Alex wasn't ready.
Still, it wasn't over. She couldn't get comfortable. There was still a chance Alex won't bring her back to the Villa and she would just be another bland Casa girl who was used for sex.
She didn't want that.
She talked to Alex about her goals and his goals and listened to him about his thoughts and feelings. He was pleased by that at least.
He didn't touch her intimately again but they did share a few snogs.
On the fourth day, she and the girls stepped up their game more. Casa Amor was ending soon and the girls wanted to make it into the Villa.
That evening, Alex invited her to sit with him on the loungers and Jenna held her breath.
"I would like to get to know you. I'm taking you back to the Villa." He stated.
Jenna was shocked, "You are?"
"Sure. I like you a lot. You seem nice and sweet."
"What about Estelle?" She had to ask.
Alex looked uncomfortable. "She'll... understand. I think." He shook his head. "I like you Jenna and I do want to get to know you."
Jenna was excited but until the Stick and Twist ceremony happened, she would be cautious.
~~~
"Now Alex," the host began. "Before you went to Casa Amor, you were coupled up with Estelle."
Alex nodded, "Yes."
"And how was Casa Amor for you?"
"It was good. I met some nice girls and one stood out to me."
Summer puffed her chest out and Jenna resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
"So Alex, you can choose to stay loyal to Estelle or you can couple up with one of these beautiful girls here." The host told him. "If you do couple up with one of these girls and Estelle doesn't couple up with one of the boys from Casa Amor, she will be single. But if Estelle does decide to couple up with a new boy, you two will be in new couples in the Villa."
"Yes," Alex nodded.
"So what will you like to do? Stick with Estelle or twist with one of these new girls?"
Jenna held her breath. This was the moment of truth. She wouldn't mind if he stuck with Estelle. She expected it. She did her best and it wasn't enough. She understood that. She would be okay. It was a fun time either way. She will be fine, she told herself.
...
...
"I would like to recouple."
Jenna looked shocked. The Casa girls gasped and the boys looked surprised.
"And who would you like to recouple with?" The host asked.
Alex's eyes fell on her and he did not hesitate. "Jenna."
Jenna was frozen. He wanted to recouple with her? She couldn't believe it.
She walked over to Alex on shaky legs, ignoring Summer's protests. Alex's arms wrapped around her and she was in his embrace.
"Jenna, how do you feel, now that Alex has recoupled with you?"
"I feel excited. I'm shocked honestly." She answered shakily.
After the host finished with them, she and Alex stood together as the ceremony continued.
"Why were you shocked? I said that I would recouple with you." Alex whispered.
"I was so sure that you would change your mind." Jenna smiled.
Alex grinned. "I meant what I said. I do want to get to know you, Jenna."
Jenna was on a high.
~~~
Jenna now stood with Alex in the back entrance in the Villa and she was afraid. She didn't know if Estelle twisted or not but she hoped she did. Either way, Alex made his choice.
When she and Alex walked out together into the Villa, where the girls were doing their Stick or Twist ceremony, there were gasps.
And Estelle stood alone, with no boy at her side.
Jenna's heart thumped painfully. Now she was the Blake in this situation now!
Estelle glared at her and Alex. Alex doesn't look at his former partner, instead he squeezed Jenna's hand and stood tall, not showing any emotions.
Jenna sighed. She was in the Villa now, but the game wasn't over yet.
It was just beginning.

Author's Note: Thank you so much for reading! This was a blast to write. I enjoyed going into Jenna's thoughts and feelings, because she, as Casa girl, will have a harder road.
[1] In this LITG universe with my MCs, only Rosalia (S2 MC - we know her from my series 'Alien'), Azere (S3 MC), Coco (S5 MC) and Cheryl (S6 MC) are OGs.
-Rachelle (S1 MC) came in as a bombshell with Rohan in this universe. Cherry is an OG. Cherrygate still happened.
-Tanya (S4 MC) came in as the first bombshell (she was the Priya of S4). She came three days later and she was eliminated before the finals with Youcef.
-Now Jenna (S7 MC) came in as a Casa Amor girl. Alex recouples with her and now this is her season.
In this universe, only two OG black girls are Hope and Rosalia back in S2, Thabi and Najuma in S4, and Cheryl and Grace in S6. Genevieve came in as bombshell in S3 as Azere coupled up with Harry.
That's it!

season four: fuseboxes biggest wasted opportunity.
(this has been sitting in my drafts for a few months now, almost a year 😭 may be slightly irrelevant to post not given how all talk of season four appears to have died out and looking back I’m not really saying anything that no one’s said before - but still, I’ll post it for the sake of it! :))
before starting, I'm going to admit, seasons one, two, and four are the only seasons I've ever fully played. I've never completed a playthrough of season three or five, they could both be brilliant idk (though I'm guessing not, judging by what others have said).
on my recent playthrough of litg s4 (yet another Angie route, some things never change) I was suddenly struck with the realisation that season four could've been gold for fusebox... and yet, it isn't.
i think it's important to recognise season four has its successes.
-> in terms of diversity, season four is arguably by far the best. it delivers a diverse range of characters from all ethnic backgrounds. it has gender diversity (limited, all be it, and there's still far for fusebox to go in this area - but it was a start). it delivers two good female li options (at least, imo) with a slow burn female li and one you can couple up with immediately (again, fusebox still is far to go in terms of properly catering to its wlw/lgbtq players... but... it was a start). finally, unlike seasons one and two, it doesn't always push this "girls are more drama" narrative which can sometimes be seen, notably in season two. the seasons depiction of female characters still isn't perfect, don't get me wrong, but in the case of season four I'd chalk this up to the fact it had ass writing, as opposed to season two, where I genuinely think some of the female characters suffered from misogynistic writing.
-> the characters are great. at least, in concept. I personally love Angie, Youcef, and Bruno - yet I can recognise the concepts of other characters are gold. like Will? an islander with commitment issues who slowly learns to open themselves up to love? could've been gold. Angie? a woman who slowly falls in love with her best friend? discovering not only her sexuality but also herself in the process? THE OPPORTUNITIES WERE FUCKING ENDLESS. Tom? Youcef? Thabi? Lexi? EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER. HAD. A. PERFECT. CONCEPT.
-> the designs were good. this is a personal opinion, but I think the designs of season four characters were much more in the league of season one and two than season three and five. again, this is a subjective opinion - but its one I do believe and see as a strength. (I mean... have we seen Angie? Thabi? Najuma? Will? I'd have been all OVER some of the mfs in that season).
in short, a huge strength of season four is that it, in theory, had a diverse and interesting cast of characters and routes - all of whom came from different backgrounds and circumstances.
in theory.... season four was gold.
except, in practicality, it wasn't.
now, I could talk for days about the weaknesses of season four - but at the end of the day I think it all comes back to what dozens of people have already said about me.
the writing was - in the most simplest of terms - absoloute balls.
there are dozens of examples of this.
take the dylan drama. what was the writing of that? Dylan was written to be a complete untrustworthy asswhole, how could we have ever believed anything that was coming out of his mouth when the man was characterised to be a liar from practically the first moment he opened his mouth?
now... had Dylan been characterised as some kind of likeable charmer... the drama potential would have been ENDLESS. it would have been far easier to see why MC/ their LI might believe Dylan.. and the angst that could have been produced from that!! endless!!
in my personal opinion, the Dylan drama is just generally dumb and could have easily been sorted out with one (1) three line conversation between MC and their li of "hey, did you cheat on me or is Dylan talking shite?" "yea/no" "aight bet" - but still, even tho it is dumb, it could have been made less dumb!!
and there's tonnes of drama which could have been great in theory but was awful in practice. like the lexi/kobi drama. or the juliet/kobi drama. or the valentina coming in and wanting our partner drama.
SO MANY MISSED OPPORTUNITIES!!!
one example of a HUGE missed opportunity in my mind is the Angie situation.
don't get me wrong, I fucking love Angies route. I only ever seem capable of playing it on replays, and I think Angie is one of my fave litg characters... well, ever! BUT HER ROUTE COULD HAVE HAD SO MUCH MORE ANGST. I STAND BY THAT.
throughout the entirety of season four, Angie always seems uncomfortable with romantic feelings. she says it herself she has trouble finding a connection, and she's incredibly cynical.
and then, she finds out she does have a connection - with none other than her best friend! who's a girl!
LIKE..? HELLO FUSEBOX! THE POTENTIAL FOR THE MOST ANGSTY LESBIAN STORY EVER FUCKING TOLD WAS RIGHT. THERE.
it's always bothered me how Angie, for the most part, seems chill with the fact she's just had a major life realisation about herself.
because, trust me, as someone who's been Angie before, it's not easy!
you spend your entire life thinking your one thing, then you find out your the exact opposite, and (in Angie's case) you've been lying to yourself for the better part of 30 years.
THE FUCKING ANGST WAS THERE.
give me angie distancing herself from MC because she's so in denial of her feelings and she thinks ignoring them will make them go away.
give me angie slowly coming to terms with the fact that, she can't ignore them. she can't make them go away. she's a lesbian, she always has been - and she can't deny that part of her anymore.
give me angie tearfully coming to the MC - choking up an apology/explanation and a confession of feelings all at once.
and just... give me more angst. the angst that should have came with someone discovering something huge about them after 29 years.
but looking beyond Angie. I think me biggest wish in terms of better writing is not only better writing for the drama, but better writing for the routes.
bruno, james, and najuma share largely the same route. most of the li's have the same/similar dialogue - and pretty much all of them have the same reaction to the dylan scenario.
these people are individuals - they have different reactions. I want to see that. the players deserve to see that.
we get it in season one. we get it in season two. we deserved it in season four.
TLDR; I think it's a mistake to assume season four was doomed from the start- it wasn't, and by saying so it almost feels as if we're letting fusebox off the hook, so to speak, for it being bad.
season four had the same concept of drama mingled with a unique cast that seasons one and two had, yet it didn't have the same quality simply because fusebox couldn't be bothered anymore. they didn't want to put in the writing and produce a genuinely good season.
season four was fusebox's biggest wasted opportunity - dare I say it could have been in the same league as seasons one and two, had Fusebox actually been bothered to do their job.
